Process
We have hands-on experience of what it takes to build, from the first sketch to project completion. Our Process
01 - Preparation and Brief
We begin every project with a walkthrough, a coffee, and a chat, taking the time to understand your passions, priorities and lifestyle or commercial objectives. We get acquainted with your space or plot, discovering its quirks and nuances. Taking the time to understand your vision, we discuss budgets, timescales and planning constraints with honesty and transparency. We follow this with a written proposal – either for a simple feasibility study or a guide of the entire project - with each proposal as unique as your project.
02 - Concept Design
Our design process begins with a series of hand-drawn sketches that tease out the potential of your project and bring our conversation to life. We collate precedent imagery to capture the architectural style we envisage, advising on the planning process and implications of each variation. Meeting regularly, we discuss every aspect of the design, understanding your boundaries and carefully exploring each option.
03 - Developed Design
Next, we use 3D computer modelling to enhance our sketches and create the ideal response to your brief. While the planning process can feel challenging, we take care of everything and guide your project through each stage with skill and care. We bring together the relevant reports and consultants and engage with authorities, heritage groups and the broader community from the outset to ensure that planning permission is gained as smoothly as possible.
04 - Technical Design
Good architecture combines beauty with practicality - we apply our years of hands-on experience to ensure that the ideas we commit to paper become ever more finely crafted as they approach their real-world form. It’s this practical real-world understanding of building that enables the conceptual quality of our work to shine, and gives us the edge when it comes to successful delivery. During the technical design stage, we prepare a full package of detailed technical drawings for costing and construction purposes. We can coordinate the entire design team and act as your primary contact throughout, creating a seamless and stress-free experience from start to finish.
05 - Tender
Once the detailed technical design is complete, we then work with a network of trusted builders and contractors to assemble the right team for your project. We work closely with cost consultants and quantity surveyors to help you select the right contractor, and assist you at every stage to help you make the right decisions for your project.
06 - Construction
Throughout the construction process we maintain a hands-on connection, offering advice and guidance when our expertise is needed. From preparing building contracts to conducting regular site visits, we iron out the creases and coordinating the finishing touches to ensure your project is exactly as you envisioned it.
07 - Completion
When you choose to work with us, our relationship goes far beyond the day of completion. Whether questions arise months or years down the line, we will always be on hand to offer our support.
